The Provincial Government has announced it will give the City of Guelph $110,636 to support Sports and Recreation Projects. Guelph’s “Park Activation” project is one in 127 projects across the province receiving funding. The project aims to help children up to the age of 12, and introduce them to new ways of using park spaces and equipment to stay physically active and develop physical literacy skills. Programming at local parks will be offered 6 days a week in 12 different parks to maximize reach and reduce transportation barriers. The provincial government wants to get children involved in recreation programs. Mostly to learn about the importance of physical activity for healthy living. The Province is also funding exercise programs for adults with mobility challenges across Ontario.
