New on Video

If you were like me you watched a few Acadmey Award nominated movies over the weekend. We are having our usual awards party this weekend and we wanted to get caught up. Of all the films we viewed this weekend I would have to say that "Moneyball" with Brad Pitt would have to be my favorite. Now I can see why it picked up so many nominations at many of the different award shows.

Clint Eastwood's movie "J Edgar" did not recieve much in the way of anything in nominations this year, but it's one that I still want to check out. Leonardo Decaprio, from the short clips I have seen, did a magnificent job at playing the main man who fought crime in the U.S. for decades. It also stars Niomi Watts. That's out on video today plus a couple of comedies. "Tower Heist" with Ben Stiller and "The ...

Uggie the Dog - is not welcome at the Academy Awards

Posted By: Ron Fitzpatrick · 2/16/2012 2:32:00 PM

If you saw the film "The Artist" you know how much "Uggie" the dog meant to that film. Sad news though. Uggie is not invited to this year's Academy Awards celebrations on February 26th. He will not be taking part in the Oscars or appearing on the red carpet, despite having won the hearts of miiions of moviegoers.

Without an official invitation or credential, the playful Jack Russell terrior, 10, will not be able to romp with the other stars on the Oscar red carpet as the silent film front runner vies for the movie industry's highest honors.

The Academy of Motion :Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes the annual Oscars, did not return a request for comment, so I guess thats it for Uggie.

Do check out the movie though. It's one film where the leave the theatre feeling good, and we need more of those.

House Fans - Mark down May 21

Posted By: Ron Fitzpatrick · 2/15/2012 5:47:00 PM

I mentioned earlier this week on the air that House will be ending its run on TV. After 8 seasons, five Emmys, a pair of Golden Globes and a Peabody award, House will officially be discharged from the network's schedule on May 21.

Olivia Wilde left the series in October to pursue movies, but is scheduled to return for the series finale.

Set you PVR's.

Tomorrow I will take a look at some new big screen additions this weekend.

Can't wait for that Family Day holiday weekend to start.
