Wouldn't it be nice if we had more box office weekends like this. Iron Man 3 took in just a little over 175,000,000 in it's first weekend. That plus the money it took in overseas makes it a runaway already. I think I will still wait for a few more weeks.
On the other hand, The Great Gatsby is all set to roll into theatres this weekend. The new version directed by Baz Lurmann, stars Leonardo DeCaprio, Toby McQuire and Amy Mulligan. Music is by Jay-Z. I have already heard a few of the songs from the movie. Good stuff. I have always been a huge fan of the story. It hasn't been done since 1974 when Robert Redford, Mia Farrow and Sam Waterston starred. Wait till you see the Gatsby party scenes in this new version of the movie. Let me know your thoughts.
What a beautiful weekend this is going to be. You can't beat the forecast. Sunny and 21 degrees. So what are doing? Jogging, walking, taking a drive in the country, doing that long awaited yard work? Whatever it is, have yourself a great weekend. It got me thinking on the way to work this morning about Sun Songs. I have compiled a list of my 10 favorite Sun Songs. Here they are. Enjoy the weather.
Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In - Fifth Dimension
California Sun - The Rivieras
Don't let the Sun catch you Crying - Gerry and the Pacemakers
Good Day Sunshine - The Beatles
I'll Follow the Sun - The Beatles
A Place in the Sun - Stevie Wonder
Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks
Sunny Afternoon - The Kinks
Sunshine - Jonathon Edwards
Sunny - Bobby Hebb
I have said it before and I'll say it again. Silver Linings Playbook had to be my favorite movie of 2013. It was witty, funny and two of the best actors out there today, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. A lot of movie fans said that this movie was the best that Robert Deniro has been in for years. Today it is out on video, so if you didn't get a chance to see it in theatres, check out the video.
I remember saying to my wife how much of a feel good movie this was, when coming out of the theatre. Believe it or not, it's still playing in some theatres today, so that is a pretty good track record.
3 more days and The Iron Man is here.
Your wait for the big Hollywood Blockbusters of the Summer of 2013 is getting shorter. I thought I would give you a heads up on some of the new movies coming to a big screen near you.
